Frequently asked questions
Does a TV overheat in a wall niche?
It can, if clearances are too tight. A TV in a fully enclosed niche can run 15–25°C hotter than in open air. This dramatically reduces panel lifespan — a hotel TV rated for 50,000 hours may fail in 20,000 under constant heat stress. Always leave at least 5 cm on each side and 10 cm above the TV.
Can I install a hotel TV with a glass-front niche door?
Only if the door has ventilation gaps or perforations. A sealed glass front traps heat and creates condensation risk. iBeeQ generally recommends open niches or those with mesh ventilation on the sides.
What is the minimum clearance around a TV in a niche?
The minimum is 5 cm on each side (width) and 10 cm above the TV (height). For front depth, the TV should sit at least 5 cm away from any wall facing the back of the panel. Many hotel TV models with rear-ventilated designs require up to 10 cm of rear clearance.
What is the smallest TV that makes sense for a hotel niche?
43" is the practical minimum for any hotel installation. Smaller screens significantly reduce the guest experience, especially as room sizes have increased in newer hotel builds. For standard rooms, 55" is now the most common specification.
Can I mount a TV on an articulating arm inside a niche?
Yes, but the arm travel must be considered — when the arm is retracted (TV flush with niche wall), the clearances still need to meet ventilation requirements. When extended, the TV must be able to swing without hitting the niche sides.
